Overview

RDPWin has integrated nearly all of the rates and packages features from RDP-DOS:

  • Most table functions (C2, C3, C7) and copy functions are available in Win
  • The rate structure remains the same
  • Rate building is much easier when based on fixed increments
  • Updating existing rates is easier
  • New features: Rate Plan Patterns and Best Available Rate
  • Improved Cutoff Display

Note:  See C1CUTOFF for details on Rate Plan Cutoff Password information.

Packages

The flow of events for using the Rates & Packages (RN) module is:

  1. Configure seasons
  2. Configure taxes
  3. Establish People Classifications
  4. Establish Unit Type combinations
  5. Add rate sets
  6. Add package components
  7. Add room-only rate plans
  8. Create daily packages
  9. Print rate plans
Room-Only Rate Plan

There are no additional items included in the rate plan other than the nightly rate for the room.  RDP's demo data offers such room-only rates as RACK, COMP, AAA, AARP, etc.

Daily (Variable) Packages

Create rates that include room rates as well as any activities such as golf rounds, bike rentals, or meals.  For example, a breakfast daily package might include the room rate and breakfast for two each day during a stay.  When adding a rate plan with package components, the B2 (transaction) Code must also be assigned.  All components, rate sets, seasons, and taxes must be configured prior to building Daily Packages.

See Rate Set as Total Price for more details.

Patterns

Define a pattern based on length of stay, day of the week, etc.  For example, a one-bedroom room rate could be $80 for guests staying three days or less, but $75 for those staying between four and six days.  Define the Patterns so the system can calculate these rates automatically when reservations are made.  See Rate Plan Patterns for more detail.

Best Available Rate

Use this tool to help with yield management.  This option allows the setup of Rate-Date Sets which assign a rate plan according to date and room type or room number.  For example, the rate-date set LOW1 can be created to have RACK for room type 1B on 3/1/98, 3AAA for room type 1B on 3/2/98, 10DC for room type 1B on 3/3/98, etc.  See Best Available Rate for more detail.
