Rates

Overview

Rate plans and packages may have associated discounted rates.  For example, a rate plan such as RACK might have a 5%, 10% and maybe a 15% discount or a $25 off discount.  With discounted rate plans, only a base rate plan and a discount percentage needs to be entered.

On a package rate plan, the discount is a percentage of the room portion only.  The package components are never discounted.  Neither Best Available Rates nor Rate Plan Patterns can be a base rate plan for a discounted rate.  However, discounted rate plans can be used within the Best Available Rate or Rate Plan Pattern.

Discount Rate Plans can have a negative (-) discount amount. The negative discount increases the price of rate plan. Enter the negative discount as "-10" in the Discount Percent field on the Rate for a -10% discount. For example, RACK rate of $100 per night is used for the Discount Rate Plan. A discount of -10% is applied, making the Discount Rate Plan $110 per night. Standard discount amounts still apply.

Decimals can be used for the discount amount. This works for both the dollar amount discount and percent discount.

Rate Plan Configuration
Almost all the rate plan configuration settings that are available for the base rate plan are also available for the discount rate plans.  When a discount rate plan is first created, the settings from the base rate plan are filled in as the default.  These settings can be changed.  For example, discounts for 5% and 10% might be allowed on the IRM, but not 20% and 25%.  Cutoffs can also be set up for discount rate plans.

The rate set, people pattern, golf settings and the component grid cannot be changed on a discounted rate plan, because they are inherited from the base rate plan.  The base rate plan and discount fields are only enabled for the discount rate plan and are disabled for all other rate plan types.
  1. Add a Discount Rate Plan.

  2. Enter the Sequence (click Default for auto-fill), select the Base Rate Plan, and enter the Discount Percent or Dollar amount for the discount.

  3. The sample new reservation screen below shows two quotes.  The first is the RACK rate and the second is the 10% discount rate.
