Tutorial - Reservations - Configure Central Reservations

Configure Central Reservations

  1. Configure Room Types - Table C2 for Central Reservations.
    1. Go to the System main menu -> Table Maintenance.
    2. Select Table C2-Room Type Validation.
    3. Select the room type and click the "Change Room Type" button.
    4. Select "Y" in the "Show in Central Res" field. (blank or "N" = No).
    5. Save & Close
    6. Repeat steps c. - e. for the remaining room types.
    7. Repeat all steps for the remaining resorts.
  2. Go to the Reservation main menu -> Central Res Configuration.
  3. From the Resorts/Settings Tab, click "Add New Resorts" button. This reads the Resorts file located in the RDP root directory and scans each resort for the Central Reservations Module (SA).
  4. If necessary, change the resort description by clicking on the appropriate resort in the "Description" field.
  5. Click the "Active" checkbox for each resort that is to be included in Central Reservations. Any resort without the checkbox will be excluded.
  6. Assign a priority to each resort if a new order is desired. If the "Priority" field is left with the default "0," the resort priority will be as it appears in the list here.
  7. Enter a default rate plan in the "Default Rate Plan" field. The rate needs to be a rate that is defined in all resorts, such as RACK. It does not need to be available for all room types at all times.
  8. Save.
  9. Click the Preferences Tab.
  10. Click the "Add Preference" button to add the Preference Definition.
  11. Enter the 6-character Preference ID and enter the Description up to 30 characters.
  12. Select the "Multi-Select" checkbox if the preference can have more than one criterion selected when making a reservation.
  13. Enter the order of the preferences, if a different order than what is listed is desired.
  14. Click the "Preference Values" button.
  15. Click the "Add Choice" button to enter the choices for this preference. Enter the 6-character alphanumeric value in the "Value" field. Enter the Description of the choice.
  16. Complete steps 10-15 for the remaining preferences.
  17. Click the "Save Preference Definitions" button.
  18. In the Room Type Preference section, assign the preferences to the room types. Not all preferences need to be defined for all room types.
  19. Save & Close.
