Using PRN2File instead of a real printer

Added 08/13/03
Article ID#: K000176

When a printer is not connected, by local or network connection, to the workstation, certain RDP functions cannot be performed, such as RDP995, RDP996, etc.  By running the Prn2File utility it is possible to redirect printer output to a file on the disk.

Solution

  1. Download the PRN2FILE.COM file by clicking here
  2. Save the file to your RDP folder
  3. At the workstation without the printer, from a command prompt at the RDP folder, type "PRN2FILE". This re-directs the output the file PRN
  4. You may have to set up a local printer with RDP096.  Call RDP Support at 970-845-7108 for details.
