RDP software requires Pervasive.SQL from Pervasive Software, one of the fastest and most reliable client-server databases available. It is in use at millions of sites worldwide. For details please see Purchasing Pervasive Software from RDP. |
RDP utilizes Pervasive.SQL 2000 as its database record manager. The Pervasive software (Pervasive.SQL 2000) must be installed both on the server and each client workstation.
It is important to keep the Pervasive software up to date since various bugs have been fixed and improvements have been added. Use the following steps for updating Pervasive.SQL 2000 to Service Pack 3 (SP3). Please note, with the Service Pack 3 update, the Pervasive software is now referred to as Pervasive.SQL 2000i.
In case problems are encountered with the Pervasive upgrade, RDP strongly discourages installing the service pack on Fridays.
Service Pack CD
Due to the size of Pervasive's Service Pack 3 (SP3), RDP recommends ordering the update on CD. Order the CD by visiting the Pervasive website and clicking the links for Downloads | Updates | Service Pack CD.

Update the Server with SP3
| A. | From the Windows NT/2000 Data Server, click Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Services. |
| B. | Right-click the "Pervasive.SQL 2000 Transactional Service" and select "Stop". |
| C. | Right-click the "Pervasive.SQL 2000 Relational Service" and select "Stop". |

| Workstations | All workstations must use either Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista (Business or Ultimate) with all service packs installed . RDP no longer supports Windows 95, 98, ME, or 2000 Workstations. For RDPWin, a minimum of 1 GB of RAM and a Pentium 3GHz processor or faster are required. |
| Servers | The data server must be Windows 2003 or 2008 32 bit (not 64 bit) with all service packs installed and at least 4GB of RAM. RDP no longer supports Novell Netware Servers. Feel free to call RDP Support at 970- 845-7108 with any hardware questions. |
| Pervasive | The Pervasive database must be Version 9.52 or higher with all Service Packs installed. See Pervasive Overview. |
| Printing Issues | RDPWin supports all standard Windows Printing environments. Our legacy RDP-DOS system may not be able to print if the printer is USB, TCP/IP or wireless. Additionally, printing remotely with Terminal Services or Citrix may not work with RDP-DOS. |
| NetMeeting or Remote Desktop |
To provide the highest level of support, RDP requires access to your system with Remote Desktop or Microsoft NetMeeting. Carbon Copy and other remote tools are not supported. See Hardware Requirements for more details. |
