May 21, 2013 Conducting a data purge on a regular basis keeps your system clean and running more efficiently. After the purge, run the Rebuild Files and Indexes to repair the files. 
May 20, 2013 Test your backup system regularly.  Making a daily backup is very important but if that backup does not work, you may encounter serious problems if restoring data is required.  
May 17, 2013 For properties with the 2-way GDS interface, check the Monitor GDS on a daily basis to make sure reservations are being made in RDP.
May 16, 2013 Check out some of the new How To's in RDPWin. They provide step by step instructions on how to complete several tasks within RDP.
May 15, 2013 More new configurable Tape Chart colors have been added for in-house reservations. A different color can display for checked in guests that have no deposit paid, a partial deposit, or those that are fully paid.
May 13, 2013 When an IRM.Net guests enters notes in the Comments box when making a reservation, the information displays on the Notes tab of the reservation in RDPWin. The note is stamped with "Entered By: IRM.Net Guest," along with the date and time.
May 10, 2013 Disable old or unused group masters, travel agents, vendors, rate plans, market codes, source of business codes, and much more. Disabling these items does not delete them, but rather removes them from lists to make easier to locate active records.
May 9, 2013 If you need to make changes or print a folio for a non-active reservations, use Transfer 1 Res from Non-Active in the Transfer to History program.
May 8, 2013 If not calculating rates by room number but instead by room type only, turn this feature off to potentially speed up the reservation process.
May 7, 2013 Use the Guest History Analysis for a complete list of guests that have stayed at your property. Use this to create mailing and email lists.
May 6, 2013 The credit card CID # from the back of the credit card does NOT get stored in RDP when a payment or authorization is taken.
May 1, 2013 Use the F12 Quick View button in RDPWin to inquire on information without having to leave the screen you are in.

April 30, 2013 Set up the folio to be emailed to guests when they check-out. Configure the folio report in the Reporter Configuration and email it just like a confirmation.

April 24, 2013 This is your friendly reminder to backup your RDP data. Backup not only your RDPNT folder, but the IRMNet folder as well.
April 23, 2013 The system can warn if a work order exists in the selected room during the reservation's arrival and departure date on a new reservation.

March 22, 2013 It is important that someone at your property know where your RDP data server, IRM server, and interface computers are located and how to access them. Occasionally, RDP Support may need to connect to these computers in order to troubleshoot an issue.
March 12, 2013 Store the URL from your marketing website for each unit in the URL field of the room master. Click the Room Web Info button from various locations in RDPWin to view this page.
March 8, 2013 Check out the RDP Mobile Device modules, including Mobile Work Orders and Mobile Check-In, available on a variety of devices.
March 7, 2013 Use the keyboard shortcuts to quickly access programs such as Change Rate Set. View the menu shortcuts from the Help Menu.

February 21, 2013 Reorder your rate plans to put the most expensive or most often sold rate plans at the top of the list, or move less used rates to the bottom.
February 19, 2013 Adjust, remove, or repost room charges to the folio using the Post Charge --> Post Package option.
February 15, 2013 Increase the number of rates that display on the Yield Management screen. To change this number, go to the Reservations Configuration --> New Res tab --> Number of Rate Plans to Display field.

February 12, 2013 Establish a loyalty or frequent guest program with RDPWin's CRM Module. Award points to guests for each night they stay or based on a dollar amount. Points can be tracked and redeemed for different rewards like free nights or meals.

January 31, 2013 Track when the owner's unit is in the rental program by using the Contract Start and Contract End fields on the owner master account. Show the contract end date on the tape chart by checking the Show Contract End Date from the Reservations Configuration --> Tape Chart tab.
January 30, 2013 Set the default for the "Keep old rates or calculate new rate" question when changing reservations. Set switch 424-17 to New if new rates are typically selected, or set the switch to Old to keep old rates.
January 29, 2013 Include an opt out or unsubscribe option on mass emails sent to master accounts like groups or travel agents. Offering an opt out or unsubscribe option for emails is necessary to be in compliance with Anti-Spam regulations.
January 28, 2013 Allow group reservations to check-in to dirty rooms when using the Group Check-In or Mass Check-In programs. Set switch 423-03 to Yes to enable. It allows all reservations from the group to be checked in at once in order to save time at the front desk.    
January 25, 2013 Track the direct cost and markup of activities with the Itinerary & Concierge Module. Create a component with the cost and one with the markup in order to view the profit amounts by vendor for each activity sold.
January 24, 2013 Credit cards can be authorized prior to check-in by setting the switch from the System menu --> Configuration --> Protobase or VRP. If the guest arrives early and wants to use the amenities like the restaurant prior to the room being ready, authorize their card before checking in the guest.

January 15, 2013 Use the Special (S) Reservation type for making reservations that are on hold, in the instance where you are waiting for a deposit or the reservation is not yet confirmed. Special Type reservations can be converted into Paying Guest reservations, or mass cancelled using the Cancel S Type Reservations feature from the Night Audit menu.
January 14, 2013 Use the Lock/Unlock Logon option from the System menu if running a utility like Reset Availability or Rebuild Files or if you are running an RDPWin update.
January 11, 2013 If you find that you are constantly having to authorize credit cards for additional amounts after check-in, increase the authorization amount with either a percentage or flat amount.
January 10, 2013 For properties using the VRP Credit Card Interface, update to RDPWin 3.0.012.21 to include a 15% tolerance for credit card authorizations.
January 9, 2013 Twelve new comment fields are available on the room master's Comments Tab. Use these comment fields to store additional information about the room that does not have a standard field for it on the master record. This is available in RDPWin 3.0.012.22 or higher.  
January 8, 2013 There is a new Turn Down Report in the Housekeeping folder to display in-house reservations with the room number information for properties that provide housekeeping turn down service.
January 7, 2013 IRM.Net support additional operators in the Conditions drop down for the Guest Requests. Use >, >=, <, <= to narrow down the room selection.
January 4, 2013 Configure comment fields for use on the IRM.Net in order to obtain additional info from guests from the IRM.Net Config --> Comments tab.
January 3, 2013 Deposits can be configured to round the amount due to the nearest $10. For example, if the deposit amount calculated is $126, the deposit due amount would be $130. Enable this feature from the Reservation Configuration --> Deposits tab. 
January 2, 2013 The IRM.Net can be configured to display room images in a picture carousel. Guests can scroll through up to 20 images of each room or type by clicking the Photo link.

December 26, 2012 Don't forget to use the F12 Quick View button for the F12 key to inquire on information without having to leave your current screen.
December 20, 2012 Make your property more visible to millions of potentials guests by signing up with one of our GDS Providers. They ensure that your availability is visible across multiple channels at all times, including online travel agents and wholesale operators. The RDP two-way GDS interface sends rates and availability to the GDS, while reservations are automatically added to RDP. 
December 19, 2012 It is important to check the Checked Out with Balance Due report on the Internal Audit or from the Night Audit folder on a regular basis.

December 17, 2012 Customize labels in the system by right clicking the label and selecting Change Caption. Change the word 'room' to unit, villa, house, etc.
December 14, 2012 RDPWin now offers HTML email confirmations. This allows hyperlinks and graphics to be embedded into the body of the email without the need for Crystal Report attachments. Style the emails to mirror your marketing website design scheme.
December 13, 2012 Point of Sale Systems (POS) can post charges directly to owner accounts in RDP. For more info about this feature, contact RDP Sales.
December 12, 2012 Set the Tape Chart to display rooms immediately upon entering the screen by checking the "Display all rooms when tape chart is first shown" box in the Reservation Configuration --> Tape Chart tab.
December 7, 2012 Select the default reservation tab to display when a reservation is first selected. For example, if you always view the folio or notes first, select that tab as the default to display. Set the tab default from the Reservations Configuration --> Res Access Tab.
December 6, 2012 The Enhanced Forecasting Module reports are a powerful tool for analyzing forecasted revenue and occupancy compared to the same time last year. Use these reports to determine your booking pace and growth.
December 5, 2012 Restrict past dates when making reservations by setting switch 427-26 to Yes. If the user tries to enter the reservation with past dates or change an existing reservation's dates to the past, a warning message appears indicating this is not allowed.
December 4, 2012 Each individual room can have a different maximum number of people allowed for each people classification. If the maximum differs from the room type, enter the number on the room from the Room Detail tab in the Masters menu --> Rooms --> Change

November 27, 2012 Hourly Activities can be scheduled using a hourly Tape Chart to view available times. This feature is ideal for spa appointments, tee times, etc.

November 21, 2012 Security has been added to RDPWin for the early check-in and late check-in options. Turn off these options by setting the fence level higher than users' power levels from the System menu --> Menu Security --> UI Security.
November 20, 2012 If upgrading or purchasing new workstations, RDP does NOT yet support Windows 8 operating system. Windows 7, Vista, and XP Pro are supported.

November 9, 2012 The Change Group Reservation program now includes the Pay Code field. This feature is available in RDPWin 3.0.012.04 or higher.
November 8, 2012 Turn off the option to allow guest of owner reservations on the IRM.Net. This is useful if properties are having problems with owners booking paying guest reservations as guest of owner reservations. Set the switch from the IRM.Net Configuration --> Owners Tab.
November 7, 2012 The IRM.Net can be configured to no longer require the guest's address or phone number if the reservation is booked by a travel agent.  Set this switch from the IRM.Net Configuration --> Groups/Agents Tab in RDPWin 3.0.012.02 or higher.
November 6, 2012 The Select Transaction screen when processing a refund has been updated to appear only if the reservation has more than one payment, one of those payments is a credit card, there are two different credit card transactions, and the owner accounting module (R3) is installed.

1October 29, 2012 Customize the colors on the Tape Chart from the Reservation Configuration. Click on each reservation type and select the color to customize.
October 26, 2012 The RDPWin program includes a feature to hold reservations until a payment is collected to secure the reservation. The reservation is entered like a typical reservation, including assigning a unit or villa, selecting the rate and dates, and entering the guest information. This will take the unit or villa out of the bookable inventory until a payment is collected. The reservation is flagged with a different reservation type to indicate it is a temporary hold reservation.

October 24, 2012 RDP offers the optional Internet Reservation Module (IRM.Net) to allow groups and group members to check rates and availability and make reservations 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. When an email address exists on the group master in RDPWin, group members can log into the IRM.Net to make reservations directly on your system, from any workstation connected to the Internet, anywhere in the world.
October 23, 2012 RDPWin3 allows the opportunity to sell Travel Services from AIG Travel Guard. You can receive commission for every sale, while also providing vacation protection for your guests. October 22, 2012 Track the time spent on work orders along with the contact who performed the work. On the Time tab of the Work Order, click the Add Time Spent button to enter the amount of time the contact spent in order to calculate the labor cost based on the vendor's hourly rate.
October 19, 2012 For system administrators, keep your system clean by using the Purge Old RDP Items.  This option is available in the System - File Utilities menu.  Regularly purge old log files and also old records from the data files.

October 18, 2012 Use a custom Crystal Report for credit card receipts. This receipt can include logos and custom text that is otherwise not available on the standard receipt. Set this report from the VRP or Protobase Configuration screen under the System menu --> Configuration.
October 17, 2012 Create Room# Info help screens with custom information about each room that can be accessed from many locations within RDPWin such as the New Res and Available Rooms screens.

August 23, 2012 Set switch 427-13 to Yes to allocate credit card fees to owners on room moves. If a guest with a credit card payment changes room during their stay, each owner is charged the credit card fee for the nights that guest was in their unit.
August 22, 2012 To scroll through the Tape Chart using the mouse's scroll wheel, single click on any room listed on the left side. This will activate the scroll function on the mouse, allowing you move quickly through the list of rooms.
