Uninstall Old Pervasive Version

The following steps are sample screens for uninstalling Pervasive 9.52 Server version.  The steps for uninstalling Versions 7.xx or 8.xx (server or client) should be relatively the same.  Uninstalling Pervasive version 10 or 11 should done using the Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel on Windows XP or Server 2003, or using Programs and Features on Windows 7 or Server 2008.

  1. From the Start Menu, select Add or Remove Programs from the Settings - Control Panel submenu.
  2. Scroll down the list to select the existing Pervasive 9.xx version and click Remove.  The sample below shows the Pervasive v9.52 selected in the list.

  3. Click Yes to confirm the removal.
  4. Progress is displayed.
  5. Once complete, reboot.  This reboot is required.  Some Pervasive 9.x DLLs and other files are deleted completely during the reboot.
  6. Access the Pervasive System Analyzer (PSA) from the Start - Programs menu and click next to use the PSA to remove all Pervasive files left behind.  The PSA does not need to be uninstalled.

  7. Select the "Delete components or archives" radio button and click Next.
  8. The Local Machine radio button should already be selected.  Click Next.
  9. Check both boxes on the Delete Options screen:  components/registry settings and archives.  Click Next.
  10. Click Yes at the confirmation prompt.
  11. Status of deletion is displayed during the process.
  12. When complete, confirm that Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and click Finish.  The reboot is required.
  13. To confirm that all Pervasive documents from unwanted version have been removed, access the PSA again, select "Analyze system or Archive components", and click Next.
  14. Confirm that "Quick search (search paths)" is selected.  Click Next.
  15. The screen shown in this sample displays a message that no Pervasive components were found.  Click Finish. 
  16. Reboot.  This is required.
