Pervasive V 9.5 Upgrade Procedure
Installing PSQL V9.50.077
Upgrade from Pervasive V9.1 to V9.52.
Download the following files into a NEW Pervasive folder created
as RDPNT/RDP/Pervasive:
Installation Procedures
Once the files are successfully downloaded, follow the steps for the server,
client or work group, and the hot fix as listed below:

Install PSQL V9.50.077 Server for windows RDPData server.
- Install PSQL V9.50.077 Client on any workstations
using RDPWin and interface machines (other than the IRM).
- Install PSQL V9.50.077 Workgroup
on any terminal Servers and the IRM.
- Install PSQL V9.52 Hot Fix
on the server, IRM, interface and workstations. This is
the only file required for ALL machines.
All installation files should be downloaded and
installed in a new folder created under RDPNT/RDP called Pervasive.
Installing PSQL v9.50.077.002 Server for Windows
- If it does not already exist, create a Pervasive folder in the RDPNT/RDP directory.
For example, with the F:/RDPNT/RDP folder selected, click File from the main
menu and select New/Folder. Enter Pervasive as the name.
Copy the entire Server folder from the PSQL installation disk into
the new F:/RDPNT/RDP/Pervasive folder. For example, select D:/ (disk
drive) from My Computer, select the Server folder, right-click and select
Copy:
Select the F:/RDPNT/RDP/Pervasive folder, right-click and Paste the Server
folder into the newly created Pervasive folder.
You must be logged on to the Data server as the Administrator.
- Navigate to RDPNT/RDP/Pervasive double-click on the Pervasive PSQL
v9.50.077.002 Server for Windows file.

- Accept the License Agreement.
- Enter your license key.
- Select Complete as the set-up type.
- Click through the remaining options taking all the defaults and complete
the installation.

Create your RDP01 ODBC Connection
- At the run Network Communication, Transactional and Relational Engine
tests prompts:
- Check the box to Test active Installation and all three checkboxes:
- Test Network Communication
- Test transactional engine
- Test relational engine.
- To run Network Communications, enter the Target Machine (i.e., your RDP
data server name).

To run Transactional Engine tests enter the path to the PVSW\Samples folder.
If Pervasive is installed on the D drive you may need to change the drive
path.

A message is displayed when the test is successful. In the case of a failed
test, check the file path to confirm the location of the
Pervasive\Samples folder. If Pervasive is installed on your D drive
you may need to change the file path above.

Click Next to run Relational Engine tests.
- Enter the Server Machine Name such as RDPDATA and Engine DSN (this is your
RDP01 directory). The
RDP01 ODBC connection must be created in order for this Relational test to pass.
A message is displayed when the Relational test is successful.
- Click Finish to complete the Installation and register online if not yet done.

Navigate to the C:\PVSW\Samples folder on the server and copy the Samples.btr file into
the RDPNT\RDP\Pervasive folder created above.
Installing the PSQL V9.50.077 Client
The PSQL V9.50.077 Client must be installed on any workstations using RDPWin
and interface machines (other than the IRM).
- You must be logged on to the data server as the Administrator.
- Navigate to RDPNT/RDP/Pervasive and double-click the Pervasive PSQL
v9.50.077.002 Client for Windows file.
- Accept the License Agreement.
- Click Complete to do a complete client installation.
- Click through the options taking all the defaults and click Install when
prompted.
- Once complete, you will prompted to run
Transactional and Relational Engine tests.
- Check the box to Test active Installation including Network
communications.
- Enter the Name of your RDP Data server.
- If the network communication is successful you
will receive a message similar to below.

- To run Transactional Engine tests enter the path to your newly created
RDPNT/RDP/Pervasive folder where the samples.btr file was copied (step 14
above). If your RDPNT folder is mapped to a drive other than the F:
drive you will need to alter the file path to the correct drive letter

- A message is displayed when the test is successful. In the case of a
failed test, check the file path to confirm the location of the
Samples.btr file. The Samples.btr file resides on the data server in
the C:\PVSW\Samples folder. Copy this file into your
\\Dataserver\RDPNT\RDP\Pervasive folder and run the test again.
- Click Next to run Relational Engine tests.
- Enter
the server machine name (i.e., RDPData) and Engine DSN (this is your RDP01
directory). The ODBC connection must be created in order for this Relational test to pass.

- A message is displayed when the test is successful. In the case of a
failed test, ensure the
ODBC connection
is set up on the data server.
- Click Finish to complete the Installation and register online if not yet done.
Installing the PSQL V9.50 Workgroup Engine
- You must be logged into the IRM or Terminal Services Client as the Local
Administrator.
- Double click the
Pervasive PSQL v9.50.077.002 Workgroup file saved in your RDPNT\RDP\Pervasive
folder. The file will begin the setup process:

- At the prompt, click Next to begin the installation.

- Accept the License Agreement
- When prompted to install the program
as an application or a service, select Service.
- Select Complete as the setup type.
- Click Next and Install. If you receive an IIS Admin Svc.
interference message, navigate to the IIS menu and stop the service
temporarily.

- Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services.
- Find the IIS Admin service - right click and select Stop.
- Close the Administrative Tools menu and click Next. When
stopped you should see the service status as blank.

- The installation will proceed provided all conflicting programs have been
stopped.

Click Finish to complete the installation and register
your product if not yet registered.
- Restart IIS Admin - Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services
Right click on IIS Admin and Start.
- At the prompts to run Network Communication, Transactional and
Relational Engine tests, check the box to Test active Installation and all
three checkboxes for Network Communication, Transactional Engine, and
Relational Engine.
- Click Next to test the Network Communication click Next.
- Enter the name of the RDP data server and click Next.
- A message displays when the network communication test is successful.
- Click Next to Test Transactional engine. Enter the path name of
the RDP data server such as RDPNT\RDP\Pervasive folder. This is where you
copied the samples.btr file in the server installation.
- Click Next. A message displays when the transactional engine test is successful.
In the case of a failed test, ensure the samples.btr file is in the
RDPNT/RDP/Pervasive folder.
- Click next to run relational tests.
- Enter the RDP data server name into the Machine Name field, RDP01 into
the Engine DSN field, and click Next.

- If you receive a failure message, review the
ODBC connection instructions to ensure an ODBC connection to the RDP01
directory exists.
- Click finish to complete the PSA tests.
- You are now ready to run the PSQL V9.52 Hot Fix.
Installing the PSQL V9.52 Hot Fix
To avoid error messages during the Hot Fix installation, complete the
following steps:
- Stop the PSQL services running on the Server by selecting Stop from the
Start/Programs/Pervasive/PSQL10/Engines submenu.
- Log onto the workstation
as the Administrator.
- Exit from all RDP applications.
- If on the IRM, IIS Admin must be stopped.
- If on the data server, stop the PSQL relational and transactional engine
services in Admin Tools / Services.
- Copy the PSQL V9.52.exe into the new RDPNT/RDP/Pervasive folder.
- On the client or server, navigate to the Pervasive folder and copy the file to the
desktop.
- Double-click to install. The program walks you through the
steps.
- Accept the license agreement.
- Click Install, take all the defaults.
