Administrative Rights for Pervasive Users
w/o Designating as Operating System Administrator
Administrative-level
rights give access to:
- Create and configure named databases and tables
- View or modify a table design with Table Editor
- Set engine configuration options
- View and set engine monitoring values
- View certain engine configuration settings
Example: Allow the auditer to remove
users from the Pervasive monitor, while not giving the administrator user name and password
to the user.
Workgroup Networks
Note: You must be logged in on the server where the
Pervasive engine is installed with administrative rights for
this to work.
Add the user group Pervasive_Admin group
under computer Management.
- Select Computer Management from the Settings -> Control Panel ->
Administrative Tools submenu.
- Expand Local Users and Groups, right-click on the Groups folder, and
select "New Group".

- Name the group Pervasive_Admin.

- Click Create.
Any users added to
this group have the rights to access the Pervasive monitor.
Domain Networks
Note: You must be logged in with domain administrative rights on the domain controller where active
directory is installed.
- Add the user group Pervasive_Admin group under Active Directory:
- Select Active Directory Users and Computers from the Settings ->
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools submenu.

- Right-click on
the Domain Name and select Group from the New submenu.

- Set Group Name to Pervasive_Admin, and select the Domain Local radio
button under Group Scope.

In the
following example, the “Night Audit” user is added to the Pervasive_Admin group
by selecting the Users folder, right-clicking on Night Audit, and
selecting Properties.

Select the "Member of" tab, click the Add button, enter Pervasive_Admin
in the "Enter the object names to select" box, then click OK.

The "Member of" tab should then display as:

- Allow logon rights for the Pervasive_Admin
user:
- Select Domain Controller Security Policy from the Settings ->
Control Panel -> Administrative Tools submenu.

- Select Allow log on locally" from the Local Policies -> User Rights
Assignment submenu.

- Click the "Add User or Group " button.

- Enter "Pervasive_Admin" as the "User and Group Names" and click OK.
- Reboot the server.
