The settings below define the settings for taking advance deposits on Internet reservations. All deposits are processed through the Southern DataComm (SDC) Credit Card Interface (RDP module code RQ). In order to determine whether or not your property has purchased the SDC interface, open the RDP-DOS system and press the <F6 - MODULES> key from any menu. The system then displays all installed modules.
Always take a Credit Card Deposit
With this option selected, a deposit is taken for all guests. Please note the “Require a Credit Card for Travel Agent Reservations” setting in the Travel Agent section controls whether a deposit is taken for travel agents. Also, the "Require a Credit Card for Groups" setting in the Groups section determines whether a credit card is processed for group reservations. Credit cards are verified on-line using the Southern DataComm credit card interface and are charged based on the setting below.
Take a Credit Card Deposit on New Guests Only
Deposits
are taken for new guests only.
All previous guests with a password in guest history are allowed to make
reservations without entering a credit card.
Internet guests are allowed to make reservations
without a deposit.

Take a Credit Card Deposit for the amount of:
If the option for "Always take a Credit Card
Deposit" or "Take a Credit Card Deposit for New Guests Only" is
selected, the amount of the deposit is based on the setting in this field.
The options are described below.
The average daily room charge is multiplied times the specified number of nights.
The reservation's total charge is the deposit amount. Optionally, the tax can be included.
A specified percent of the total room charge.
A specified dollar amount. The amount specified is the same for every reservation.
Use Total Charge if Arrival is Within Specified Number of Days
If the Internet reservation is made within a specified number of days from the arrival date, configure the IRM to use the reservation's total charge as the deposit amount.
Enter the number of days. For example, if the property requires full payment from Internet guests if their arrival date is five days from today's date, enter a "5" in this field.
By default, the Guaranteed Field on all IRM reservations is set to 'Yes'.
Customers that have the Southern Datacom Credit Card Interface installed and charge the guest at time of making the reservation should set their monitor setting to " Only set guaranteed to Yes for the IRM reservations with a credit card "
The final option is to not guarantee any IRM reservations if the Southern Datacom Interface is not installed. Once the property manually charges the customers credit card, this guaranteed field can then be set to Yes in RDP.
