Check Availability & Rates Quickly from your Marketing Website

Last Revised:  1/1/2007 - IRM Revision - 2.336 - Article ID#: I000107

It is possible to collect the arrival date and departure date using a form on your marketing website and then link directly to the available room numbers or room types in the IRM.  This bypasses both the IRM access type screen and the date entry screen.   This feature is designed for customers using the IRM to make reservations either by room type (inventory reservations) or room number (pre-assign reservations).  To implement this feature requires someone familiar with HTML forms and programming to create a form on your marketing website to collect the arrival date, departure date, and other information.  RDP support does not provide HTML programming training. Also see Linking options from your Marketing Website to the IRM.

Example  - Collect dates from your marketing Website

A sample form to collect the Arrival and Departure Dates and adult and children field is below.  This form would be created by your marketing website designer.   Things to be aware of:

Activating Feature & adding links to marketing Website

  1. Update the IRM to version 2.336 or higher.
  2. Contact your Marketing Website Company to design a Check Availability form that collects dates and number of people. Please note that RDP does not provide Website Design services or support on how to design website forms.
  3. Your website designer should format the link to pass the Arrival and Departure dates dynamically to the IRM as follows.  The "Server" has to be replaced with the IP address of your IRM, or the SSL name.  Warning:  The link must be formatted exactly as below when it is sent from your marketing site.  The arrival date and departure dates must be in the format mm/dd/yy.  Make sure to start a new browser window with the link.  See "Overview of linking".

Sample Link - Reservations by Room type (Inventory)

The format of the link to use from your marketing website to a list of available room types (inventory reservations) is below.

http://server/irm/RoomType1.asp?Arrival=mm/dd/yyyy&Depart=mm/dd/yyyy&PPL1=w&Ppl2=x&Ppl3=y&Ppl4=z

A sample of this link is below, which goes to RDP's test IRM server, "IRM.Resortdata.com", and then displays all available room types from 03/05/1998 to 03/09/1998.  Notice that this link brings up a new browser window.  See "Overview of linking".

http://irm.resortdata.com/irm/RoomType1.asp?Arrival=03/05/1998&Depart=03/09/1998&PPL1=2&PPL2=0&PPL3=0&ppl4=0

Sample Link - Reservations by Room Number (Pre-assign)

The format of the link to use from your marketing website to a list of available room numbers (Pre-assign reservations) is below.

http://server/irm/Rooms1.asp?Arrival=mm/dd/yyyy&Depart=mm/dd/yyyy&PPL1=w&Ppl2=x&Ppl3=y&Ppl4=z

A sample of this link is below, which goes to RDP's test IRM server, "IRM.Resortdata.com", and then displays all available room numbers from 03/05/1998 to 03/09/1998.  Notice that this link brings up a new browser window.  See "Overview of linking".

http://irm.resortdata.com/irm/Rooms1.asp?Arrival=03/05/1998&Depart=03/09/1998&PPL1=2&PPL2=0&PPL3=0&ppl4=0

Pass Departure Date, not Number of Days

The feature is designed to pass the arrival date and departure date, not the arrival date and "number of nights".  However, you can design a form on your marketing website that prompts for the arrival date and number of nights.  You must then convert the number of nights to a departure date in order to pass the IRM the Departure date variable.   The arrival date and departure dates must be in the format mm/dd/yy as shown in the sample links above.

Number of People optional

In addition to passing the arrival date and departure date, you can pass all four people classifications.  The "People classifications" are optional parameters, but are very important for calculation of rates.   People 1 will default to "1" if not used.

Also please see "Overview of linking from the Marketing site to the IRM".
