IRM Configuration Options - RDP-DOS Guest Requests

5/19/2006 - When the IRM is configured to reserve by unit number it is critical to limit the number of guest search criteria so the guest does not see, "no available rooms match all guest search criteria".   See: KI0058

There are nine “Guest Request” headings used in the RDP-DOS system.  These are located in table C8 sub-record "01".  For the RDP-DOS system, these are three- character codes.  The three-character code is not very descriptive to an Internet guest booking a reservation.  For example, there may be confusion if the guest sees an abbreviation for the view from the unit that simply reads "OCN" for "Ocean".  The "Guest Request" section contains the following columns.

Text to Display on the IRM

This section adds descriptions to the three-character codes entered in the RDP-DOS system.  The “Text” fields are used to enter an Internet description.  The "#1" field corresponds to the first guest request heading listed in RDP-DOS table C8 sub-record "01".

Active

Should this guest request heading be displayed for Internet guests?  At least one of the guest request fields should be used.

Selections

The “Selections” drop-down field is a display only feature that shows which request options the Internet guest sees.

The "Selections" button to the right of the drop-down field is used for adding new guest request options.  For example, if one of the guest request headings is "Number of Bedrooms" and the property has a new choice for a four-bedroom unit, use the following steps for adding this choice to the IRM.

  1. Click the "Selections" button.

  2. To the right of the text "Add", enter the text for the new option.  In this example, the text is "Four Bedrooms".

  3. Enter a "Value".  The value corresponds to the C8 "PREF" sub-record.  In this example, the value is "4BR".

  4. Click the "Save" button.

  5. The new option is now saved.  Click "Exit" to return to the "IRM Options" page.

  6. A new choice now appears in the drop-down field for "Number of Bedrooms" - "Four Bedrooms".
