The IRM can be 'turned off' for a given period of time for a guest, travel agent, or group. Reservations can also be restricted from arriving on certain days of the week. These settings are important during busy times of the year. If dates are entered during a blocked period, the IRM guest will be directed to a configurable page that alerts them to contact the property directly. Access the "Block IRM" page from the "IRM Configuration Options" page, displayed below.

| Dates (mm/dd/yy) | Block | Arrival Can Not Be On | Min | HTML File | ||||||||||||

| Description | Begin | End | Guest | Agent | Group | Rate Plan | Sun | Mon | Tue | Wed | Thu | Fri | Sat | Gap | Name | Delete |
The IRM can effectively be 'turned off' for a given period of time for a guest, travel agent or group. Reservations can also be restricted not to start on a certain day of the week. These settings are important during busy times of the year and every day should be occupied and some human intervention is usually required. The IRM guest will be directed to a customized page, which can tell them to call the property. The blocking information is stored in Table W1 and can also be modified with the RDP-DOS 090 option. |
|
| Add | To add an IRM block period, enter a description, beginning and ending dates and any other information to the last line and click 'Save'. The settings will be saved and then redisplayed. |
| Delete | To delete an IRM block period, check the 'Del' check box and click 'Save'. The record will be deleted and the remaining entries will be redisplayed. |
| Dates | Enter the beginning and ending dates in MM/DD/YY format. Beginning date is required. If the ending date is not included, the block will be applied indefinitely. |
| Block | Check the type of Internet guest or rate plan that is to
be blocked during this period.
Options include:
The fourth field, Rate blocks a rate plan for an arrival day or specified range of dates. The rate will be blocked from Guests, Travel Agents and Groups. |
| Arrival Can Not Be On | A block can be entered that restricts arrivals on certain dates. For example, the property may be very busy during "Spring Break" and does not want to allow Internet guests to arrive on a Saturday. In this example, the dates for the block may be 03/15/02 - 03/29/02 and the "Arrival Cannot Be On" field has the "Sat" box checked. |
| Min Gap (Preassign) | This setting is designed to eliminate gaps between
reservations that are un-rentable. Example: By setting the gap rule to
3, the IRM based on availability, will either make back to back
reservations or if that is not possible will assign a room only if there
is a 3 day gap on either side of the reservation. Note: The IRM would prevent a 4 night reservation from being made in this example Pppp . . . . . Ppppp IRM reservations are only made if the room is available and the Gap rule is not broken. |
| HTML File Name | If a guest selects days which are blocked from the IRM,
user defined text can be displayed to explain the reason for the
block. Create a htm file in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\irm\usertext\blockreasons. Enter the name of the file in the HTML File Name column. |
Use the following fields for adding or deleting blocks.
To add an IRM block, enter a description, beginning and ending dates and any other applicable information, including whether or not the block pertains to guests, travel agents, or groups. Also, as opposed to blocking an entire range of dates, the new item can be entered in order to restrict arrival days during a period. For example, a block can be entered that restricts Saturday arrivals over Spring Break.
After entering the new block, click the "Save" button.
Use the following steps for deleting an IRM block.
The block is deleted and the remaining entries are redisplayed.
In addition to the above settings, the IRM checks the following system variables prior to booking a reservation.
Availability File: Reservations cannot be made past the end of the DOS system’s current availability file. This is approximately five years into the future. A message displays on the "Room Type" page that the selected dates are not available and to contact the property.
Table C3 - Seasons: A sub-record in the C3 table must exist for all future months that Internet guests may book reservations. If a record does not exist, a message displays on the "Room Type" page that dates are not available and to contact the property.
Table QZ - Minimum Stay: The QZ table in the RDP-DOS system contains minimum stays that apply to Internet guests. If an Internet guest selects an arrival date that is included in table QZ, the minimum stay requirement applies.
The Internet Reservation Module (IRM) allows Internet guests to make reservations directly into the RDP system without involvement from the property’s reservation staff. This section provides links to instructions for configuring the IRM after the Windows 2000/2003 bridge server has been installed.
Remember to backup the C:\Inetpub directory every day on the IRM server to avoid losing important files and pictures. See Backup for more details.
