Installing RDPWin
Version 3 Client on a Terminal Server
Issue:
In order to avoid running the client setup.exe for each user profile,
the following 2 solutions can be used to set up the RDPWin V3 client on
Terminal Server.
.Net Click Once Method
This is the preferred method for setting up the RDPWin3
client on a terminal server. After installation, RDPWin will
update automatically for all users. This is the preferred method
for customers that do not use
roaming
profiles.
-
Login as Administrator
-
Set the station number on the terminal server.
Note: Only add a system variable, not a variable for each user.
-
Install the RDPWin Client as Normal.
Note: Only run the setup.exe for the Administrator Profile.
-
Open Window's explorer
-
Explore to:
2003 server - C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop
2008 server -
C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop
-
Copy the RDPWin Icon to:
2003 server - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop
2008 server -
C:\Users\Public\Desktop
-
Have each user login to the Terminal server.
-
They will see the RDPWin Icon, but it will not
display the 'Red Skier'

-
Click on the icon
-
Click Install on the Application Install - Security
Warning Prompt

-
This will install the necessary files to run RDPWin
into the users profile directory.
-
RDPWin will now use the click once technology to
update the RDPWin Client
Short Cut To the RDPWin.EXE method
This method of installing RDPWin Client on a
terminal server is least preferred. However, if the customer
is using roaming profiles, they made want to use this method.
The customer will need to manually update the RDPWin Client after
each update. Oceana Resorts and Silver Leaf are using this
method.
