Turn off Auto Smart Linking in Crystal Reports 10

Problem Overview

In Crystal Reports 10, when adding a database table to a report, Auto Smart Linking automatically links the tables together.  The linking is often incorrect for RDP files.

Solution:

In order to turn off Auto Smart Linking, use the following steps:

  1. Use FTP to transfer the file Crystal10TurnOffSmartLinking.reg from the RDPWin folder on RDP's ftp server
    ftp://ftp.resortdata.com/public/Programs/Crystal10TurnOffSmartLinking.reg
  2. Save this file to the RDP root folder (normally F:\RDP).
  3. From each workstation running Crystal Reports 10 Designer, double click on this file and confirm the change to the registry.
  4. Restart Crystal Reports 10 Designer.
