Changes to the RDP Reporter

Added 9/19/2000 - Article ID# KC00001 - Version - 12.02 and Higher

Previously, the windows-based RDP report writer, RDP Reporter, used the files REPORTER.TMP and REPORTER.REQ to communicate with the RDP-DOS product.  In order to accommodate customers running in a Citrix environment, RDP has made the following change.

Now, RDP Reporter and the RDP-DOS product use the files RPxxxxxx.TMP and RPxxxxxx.REQ in the RDP folder ("xxxxxx" equals the unique station number).  By using the unique station number, multiple copies of RDP Reporter can run on the same workstation.

The RDP-DOS product uses the following means for identifying a unique station number.

A. An internal programming call to NetWare that retrieves a portion of the unique Ethernet card number.
B. The environmental variable "station", set in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, or the RDP icon, for Win 9x clients.
C. The "Environment" setting (My Computer | Advanced Tab | Environmental Variables) for Windows 2000.

RDP Reporter uses the following means for identifying a unique station number.

A. The environmental variable "station", set in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, or the RDP icon, for Win 9x clients.
B. The command line.  If an RDP Reporter shortcut references "Reporter.exe 12", the station number is set to 12.

Launching Reporter

There are three ways to launch the RDP windows-based report writer, RDP Reporter:

  1. From RDP-DOS product, use the <F8 - REPORTER/CRYSTAL REPORTS> key displayed below.

  2. From a Windows shortcut.  However, the Windows shortcut must include the station number variable defined in the RDP-DOS product.

  3. A Crystal report from within the RDP-DOS product.  The RDP-DOS product includes menu items for Crystal reports.  When one of these menu items is selected, the RDP-DOS product launches RDP Reporter.  For example, the following menu items on the Reservations Reports menu launch the RDP Reporter.
