Error 14222 Applying Pervasive license Key using pervasive 10.3

Issue

When applying a Pervasive License Key using the License Administrator, you receive the following error:

Error 14222: Unexpected Activation error.  Please contact support
 

 Solution

This is a known bug in Pervasive version 10.3 (version 10 service pack 3).  The fix is to download and install Pervasive version 10.31 (PSQL v10 SP3, update 5).

This is a patch that needs to be installed on the server and on each workstation (not a full installation) and can be downloaded from the following link:

Potential Issues

After updating the client workstation with this patch, RDPwin or RDPdos may think the Pervasive version is 10.30 and not 10.31.

The dll is located under f:\masters\sysadmin\pervasive\SQLV10SP3 Update5\w3mif190.dll

To fix this, you need to replace a DLL on each workstation.  You will need to copy this file to the C:\Program Files\Pervasive Software\PSQL\bin directory on the workstations, and possibly
