Remote Printing with
RDP-DOS using Citrix or Terminal Server |
Printing with the RDP-DOS remotely only works reliably
with Remote Desktop Connection using a Citrix or Terminal Server.
It does not work with Windows 2000 servers, Carbon Copy, NetMeeting, PC
Anywhere, or any other remote connection product. To print remotely using Remote Desktop Connection with Terminal
Server using a Windows 2003 server, follow the steps below:
| Use Remote Desktop connection to connect the
the Windows 2003 server running Terminal Server. Select the
"options" button. Then select the "local resources" tab. |

|
|
Make sure to check BOTH the "Printers" and Serial Ports
options. The printers will not print if you only check "printers".
This appears to be a bug with Microsoft that they have not yet fixed.
Click connect to make the connection.
Warning: Make sure to check
BOTH the "Printers" and Serial Ports options. The printers
will not print if you only check "printers". |
|
Set up the local printer in RDP. This
is done as follows:
- RDP menu 98, option 096
- Select option "P"- Add/Change/Delete RDP Local Printers (LPT1-LPT4)
- Select Parallel Port=1 and set up correctly as appears at the
right.
- File the changes and test the remote printing.

Note: There are special steps
required to install Pervasive on Citrix or Terminal Server. See
Pervasive Work
Group Engine Required, Run as Service on Citrix/Terminal Server.
The work group engine can be purchased from RDP by
calling RDP Sales.
Warning: Do not use the 2008 64 bit operating system for Citrix or Terminal Server. Various RDP interfaces and
utilities will not run on 64 bit operating systems.
