Using the RDP Knowledge Base

RDP & Novell Netware

  • All customers should transition from Novell to Windows 2003
  • RDP would love to support Novell forever, but simply not possible
  • New Microsoft ".Net" and RDPWin can't be made to work with Novell
  • RDP will continue to support Novell in a limited fashion until customers convert

RDP Suggests Windows 2003 Server

  • RDP Tested Windows 2003 Server
  • Excellent operating system
  • Faster than Windows 2000 and more features
  • Existing customers with Windows 2000 should keep it
  • Customers upgrading from Novell or NT should buy Windows 2003, not 2000

Data Server Dedicated to RDP

  • Server theoretically can run hundreds of applications
  • Ideally the RDP data server should only run RDP
  • The more you put on the same server, the more likely conflicts will result
  • Other applications can slow performance

RDP Requires Windows 2000/XP Professional

  • RDPWin workstations require Windows XP Professional
  • Windows XP Service Pack 2 has been tested and works fine
  • Windows 2000/XP is much more reliable than Windows ME/98/95
  • Buy new workstations with WinXP - Don't upgrade Win95/98 to 2000/XP
  • Ideal workstation has 256 mb RAM and Windows XP Service Pack 2
  • Customers with all Windows 2000/XP workstations are much happier!

Pervasive Version 8.6 Now Available

  • Pervasive is the database RDP Uses
  • RDP now sells Pervasive directly to customers - Improves the support
  • RDP tested new Pervasive Version 8.6
  • Faster than previous versions
  • Customers with P.SQL 2000 Version 7.94 or earlier should upgrade to 8.6
  • Version shows when you login to RDP

New Crystal Reports Available for Download

  • RDP frequently releases new Crystal Reports
  • Come to the session on Tuesday at 4:00pm
  • Check www.support.resortdata.com for updates
  • RDPWin replaces "Reporter" with full Integration
