Factors affecting IRM Performance

How many concurrent IRM Users?

  • More users require more of everything.
  • Faster CPU
  • More Memory
  • Faster Internet connection
Don't run other applications on IRM Bridge
  • Other applications demand resources
  • Conflicts and crashes possible
How fast an Internet Connection?
  • 128 KB Minimum
  • DSL is great
  • If lots of pictures or users, get T1 Speed (24 times faster than a modem)
How many pictures are you using?
  • More users require more of everything.
  • Faster CPU

Check Speed of data Server
  • If the Data Server is overloaded, the IRM will be slow
  • Lots of data exchanged between IRM and data server
  • Check memory in Data Server. RDP suggests 2 gigabytes RAM memory.
  • Note:   Memory is the single most important factor for all Servers - Data, IRM, Citrix, RDPWin.
  • If data server more than 4 years old its time for a new one.
Size of pictures on the IRM?
  • Many guests still have a slow modem
  • Be careful with pictures - even if you have a T1, the guest doesn't.
  • Watch out for virtual tours - they can be slow
  • Compress Pictures!  Watch the size.
Network Speed - 100 megabit or more
  • Switch/hub should be 100 megabit
  • Category five wiring
  • 100 mb cards in IRM & Data Server
  • IRM and Data Server must be on the same hub
